WhatsApp Notification Setup Guide for Tec.Delivery Clients
(Official WhatsApp Business API)
This guide explains what your company needs to do in order to enable automatic WhatsApp notifications for order status updates (accepted, in progress, shipped, delivered, cancelled, etc.) within the Tec.Delivery platform.
1. Create and verify a Meta Business account
You must have a Meta (Facebook) Business Manager account.
- Register at https://business.facebook.com/
- Complete your company profile (legal name, address, website, email)
- Complete Business Verification (documents may be required)
Without a verified business, WhatsApp Business API cannot be activated.
2. Connect WhatsApp Business API via an official provider
WhatsApp API is accessed through an official Meta Business Solution Provider (BSP).
Recommended provider:
- Twilio
The provider supplies API access, dashboards, templates, and webhooks.
3. Register and verify a WhatsApp number
You need a dedicated phone number that:
- Is not used in regular WhatsApp
- Will be used only for WhatsApp Business API
Through the provider’s panel you must:
- Register the number
- Verify it by SMS or call
- Create a WhatsApp Business Profile (company name, logo, website, description)
4. Prepare message templates
All automated notifications must use pre-approved message templates.
You placed an order #{{1}} with CompanyName. The order status has changed. New status: {{2}} Thank you for your order!
Templates are submitted to Meta for approval (usually within 1–48 hours).
5. Collect user consent (mandatory)
You must obtain explicit user opt-in before sending WhatsApp notifications.
- A checkbox during checkout: “I agree to receive order updates via WhatsApp.”
Without user consent, your WhatsApp number may be blocked.
6. Provide API access to Tec.Delivery
After setup, your provider will issue:
- API endpoint
- Access token / API key
- WhatsApp Phone Number ID
- Webhook settings
- Approved template names
These credentials must be securely shared with Tec.Delivery for integration.
7. Integration by Tec.Delivery
Tec.Delivery will:
- Connect to the WhatsApp API
- Configure order status → template mapping
- Implement automatic sending
- Log and monitor message delivery
After this, users will start receiving WhatsApp notifications automatically.
Important notes
- WhatsApp Business API is a paid service.
- Pricing is conversation-based and depends on the recipient’s country.
- Promotional messages require separate approval and consent.
- Spam complaints may result in account suspension.
